Let’s put it in simple terms: If your life hasn’t been that great, it’s because you’ve just been cruising it.
We often believe we deserve positive things to happen to us but life only brings to us what we make it.
Thinking positively is a great way to intercept your mind and make it stop putting barriers in your life. However, it is only by acting on it that we can really start appreciating our life.
Your heart, your life, your happiness are your responsibility and your responsibility alone. — Will Smith
It’s just that simple.
If you blame others for faults, if you let life happen and just experience it as it comes, you cannot complain you are not happy.
You need to take responsibility for every single experience which comes your way.
Whether positive or negative, what happened is in the past and cannot be modified anymore.
You only need to accept it, learn from it and move forward. By accepting responsibility, you put your life back into your own hands and get control over your feelings and future actions.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to be easy. Yes, it’s clearly easy to own positive experiences but negative ones are where it gets tough.
If you keep your eyes on your life goals and decide to live a happier life with all which it entails, you absolutely can.
You simply need to accept life cannot be perfect and take responsibility for whatever comes your way.
Got into a bad fight with your partner and believe it's their fault for having a “wrong” opinion? No no, that’s your fault for not having exchanged enough or clearly.
Got into a risky situation at work and think it’s because of management? Nope, that’s your fault for not acting positively enough.
A close relative lost their life? I’m sorry to say it’s your fault you didn’t see them enough.
Do you think this sounds depressing and negative? Oh, yes, it could. If you let it be.
Why should you take ownership of things outside of your control? It’s easy, it gives you the keys to acceptance and will provide you with the opportunity to grow from those difficult experiences.
Once again, this won’t always be easy, but having control over one’s own life is the only way to start appreciating for what it can be: overwhelmingly positive and beautiful.
