Chère Elisabeth, thank you very much for your insightful comments and opinion as a fellow polyglot.
While I agree with the fact that some people are born with a higher interest in languages, I do believe it is the experiences that make a true polyglot. Of course, we can’t find polyglots around every corner — unfortunately! — but I have met numerous people who weren’t all that interested in languages when they were children. They were forced to learn a second language and a few experiences interacting with foreigners showed them how wide the world was. How many beautiful adventures they could live.
Unfortunately, I know most people won’t take the first step towards this but if even one person decides to join the rest of us in the journey to polyglottery, then I’d have done my part and would be happy enough!
