From a Child Writing to an Adult Sharing
While I just started online last October and holding a diary well last Summer, I don’t believe coming across writing was entirely out of the blue.
Looking back on my life and the way I was brought up, I noticed that many aspects of my personality were pulled from written words.
When I was a very young child, my parents read me stories extremely often and the day I could read, I started doing so constantly.
From 6–7 years old until I was 14–15, it was pretty much impossible to see me without a book in my hands. Even going down to the ground floor from the second floor of my house to go eat, I was reading.
Waiting 2 minutes for the tea to be ready? I was reading then too.
I was quickly drawn to heroic fantasy style books. Series like the Riftwar Cycle, Harry Potter, the Assassin’s Apprentice, Game of Thrones, and so on were my bread and butter.
I lived through books and my imagination flourished thanks to them. I quickly started making comparisons between real actions and improbable ones, having fun crossing the line between reality and imagination.
I remember being around 6 years old when I had my first thirst to write. I was already reading as much as possible and I wanted a creation from myself.
