I've never met anybody deaf in my life but since I've discovered ASL, I've only realized even more how privileged I was, as a white man without a disability (although, if I recall, the term "disability" isn't seen well in the deaf community but I can't seem to remember the correct term).

Your story was touching and relatable. It's a situation that shows we're all the same people, no matter what we look like or what life throws at us.
